Reimagining A Mid-Century Home Rooted in Memory

This 1963 single-family residence in Worthington, OH was inherited by the client and carries deep personal significance as his childhood home. While structurally sound, the interior no longer aligned with his evolving lifestyle or needs. The original layout had a tiny kitchen that was closed off, limiting flow and connection between spaces.

Our design approach honors the home’s mid-century character while introducing a refined contemporary style. Key architectural elements were carefully preserved, while strategic spatial reconfiguration improved circulation, usability, and the overall experience of the home.

The result, a balance between past and present. Transforming a mid-century residence into a modern, livable home that respects its history while supporting a new chapter of life.

Original Roots To Elevated Living

Set gracefully within a lush, expansive landscape, this home captures the essence of mid-century modern design with its low-slung horizontal profile and clean linear form. The elongated structure emphasizes simplicity and balance, blending effortlessly into its natural surroundings.

Opening the Atrium

The large atrium has always been the heart of the home. Rich with character, texture, and natural elements. By removing the bi-fold partitions, we transformed it from a separate room into a central experience, allowing it to flow seamlessly into the living spaces.

A Living Room That Breathes

What was once a closed-off, dim space is now open, airy, and effortlessly livable. By removing walls and expanding sightlines, the living area becomes a central hub, flooded with natural light and anchored by original architectural features. The existing exposed beams and stone fireplace still remain focal points, now complemented by soft, modern furnishings that invite comfort.

With a 120" projector, this space effortlessly transforms into a cinematic retreat. This brings theater-quality viewing into the comfort of home whenever the moment calls for it.

Styled to Stay

The client was committed to keeping the original cabinet, with its built-in speaker system, as a meaningful part of the home’s story. Through thoughtful styling and intentional updates we reshaped its presence.

Every Detail, Designed to Work

A beautiful kitchen is only as strong as how it functions day to day. Every cabinet, drawer, and hidden feature is intentionally designed to support real life. Keeping essentials organized, accessible, and out of sight. It’s a space where nothing is forgotten, because everything has its place.

Precision Behind the Scenes

We believe great design leaves no room for guesswork. By combining precise kitchen elevations with stunning realistic renderings, every detail is brought to life before installation begins. Our clients don’t just imagine the space, they experience it in advance, ensuring complete confidence and zero confusion from concept to completion
